HISTORY
Tulikivi was born from a combination of Finnish knowledge of arctic conditions, wood burning know-how and a unique deposits of soapstone. Soapstone, has been used in Finland for hundreds of years. The commercial use of Juuka soapstone began in 1893 by Suomen Vuolukivi Oy – Finska Täljsten Ab, founded in 1893:
facades and reliefs of valuable buildings in Helsinki and fireplaces created by the architects Eliel Saarinen, Armas Lindgren and Hermann Gesellius in 1904.
Modern Tulikivi was founded in 1980 by Reijo Vauhkonen, and it has been successfully developed by his son
Heikki Vauhkonen.
